Proposal and Engagement Portraits Location - Maguire Park and Bonaventure Hotel Los Angeles
Maguire Park, DTLA, Los Angeles
So this was such a typical moment for a proposal moment. Yep, absolute panic, surprise, tears and kissing. And of course, she said yes!
The wait!
Now this was a process for sure. Joe had just flown in the LA from Florida. His fiance to be was attending a convention related to photography not far from her hotel, The Bonaventure. The process to get this to happen I won't go into entirely, but when I found out that Joe had been wandering the streets of LA looking for a place to propose, I finished with meeting with 2 of my clients to be (hopefully) to get down there and chill with him. I was about 2.5 hours early from the time of the big moment. But we talked and I kept him occupied. I even saved him by charging his phone since he had been on it all day and it was at 3%.
Samantha was radiant
Now Samantha was expecting to be doing a photo shoot of her own of a client of the company that she works for, so she came ready to work, not get engaged. Joe had hidden behind some trees as we watched Samantha wander the grounds looking for a client. Instead she found me. I started some small talk hoping to be able to have her help me set my camera up for when my "other" clients were expecting to arrive. She jumped right in.
Where is joe?
Now, Joe was supposed to come out and come up behind her to surprise her. Instead, Samantha had stepped down a bit and I was trying to figure out how to get her back up there. Joe walked out, she saw him and walked away in shock. Joe was not supposed to be in California and certainly not there to propose.
Another surprise
Joe had set up his camera to capture the whole thing while family all over watched it happen. It took a good 10 minutes for her to calm herself only to be shocked again. It was a great idea and a fun moment as she shared her new engagement ring. Well done Joe!
Let's take a walk
By this point some 3 hours had gone by. I got to know a lot about Joe. Samantha, you have a great catch. This ex-military man, now electrician, met his wife to be at where they work. She works in the social media department of the company and Joe travels a lot. You can see, Samantha his still in shock.
We had to rush
We got a few shots in on one of the bridges that connect the hotel to the plaza across the way before they had to rush off to a 9pm dinner reservation. And to make sure they got their safely, I drove them to their restaurant so they didn't have to walk. DTLA is no place at 9pm to be wandering around.
The City of Angeles
What a day. I booked a client, got a last minute proposal request and got to it to help support a great guy.
