Now let me first say that yes I am a preferred vendor for the Bonaventure Brewery. In fact, I am the only photographer they recommend. This is very humbling. Thank you Melissa for allowing me this privilege.
What a day this was! The Bonaventure Brewery in the Bonaventure Hotel is an amazing place to hold your wedding. Normally, the area just outside the brewery is the normal location for the ceremony. On this day, it rained. Of all the times I have shot there, it has never rained. So the outside area was a no go. I give a huge kudos to Melissa and her team to turning their inside area a full treatment and really transform that area into a functional space for 120 guests.
I will admit if it were not for having a second photographer with me that day, thank you Tiffany, this could have been an even more difficult situation. There was no way for me to stay at the end of the aisle awaiting the bride and then be able to get passed the couple to make for the rear of the aisle. So I hid behind the maid of honor and was able to get a very intimate look of a wedding, that I have never chosen before.
The Bonaventure Brewery is a fun location with a very futuristic yet nostalgic look for your event. The street bridges across to the adjacent lots make for easy access to different views of the hotel and city life going on below. Inside the bar area there is a small space for a dance floor, that normally is just for the last hour or so for your guests. There is a 10pm curfew sound ordinance so if you plan to party after 10pm, you will have to have a DJ that will move inside. Again, normally the party and ceremony all take place outdoors.
My couple this day were so chill. They knew their vision of their wedding day was dripping away with each rain drop. They simply did not let this affect them. So many brides explode in the fact of moments like this. Stay cool and calm, the whole point is to have a memorable event. Every detail no matter how common or of the norm is a piece of that day.
We hope you will consider this over many other locations in the DTLA area. We have shot at most and none feel so comfortable and relaxed as this.
